In Gran Canaria we chose to open this type of museum/house of wine as a response to the characteristics and needs of the sector.

The museum is for tourists, but also has active involvement from wine growers as well as fulfilling a supportive role. In addition to providing a support setting for the sector it has a Tasting Room, where the tasting committee carry out their work, a Meeting Room, and it also houses the Gran Canaria Designation of Origin Regulatory Board’s office. Visitors to Gran Canaria’s Casa del Vino can enjoy its many services: visit the Museum Room (a reproduction of a traditional winery with films and information about wine traditions and history); the Vinest Exhibition Room (with backlit information boards showing information about the Vinest Network areas); and a wine and food shop, which also stocks products from the island related to wine and cheese tasting, and hosts training courses, tastings with talks, and presentations, etc.

You can try samples of the wide array of wine varieties the island has to offer in the recently renovated building. The exhibition room will introduce you to the history of wine production in Gran Canaria. The island has a long tradition dating back several generations as an exporter of wines to Europe. This precious heritage comes from its diversity of microclimates: the same variety of grape will offer different oenological characteristics depending on the area it comes from. The Casa del Vino has established itself as the island’s wine museum, a space which gives you the chance to taste and buy Gran Canaria Designation of Origin wines. So if you’re a traveller who appreciates the good life, we recommend you pay a visit to Santa Brígida. A combination of good times, good food, and good wine.
